Job Description:

The Utah Department of Corrections is looking for a Facilities Administrator who will report directly to the Facilities Director. This person will direct and coordinate the building maintenance, construction and supervise employees throughout the Departments various buildings around the State. Adherence to safety and security guidelines, policies and practices while working in and around a correctional institution environment. This job is NOT public safety certified, and does not require peace officer status or certification. Travel will be required but no overnight stays.

Principle duties
The Facilities Superintendent will be responsible for the performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports including mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate. Provide direction and leadership consistent with facilities business plan goals. And support the Department's mission and vision in daily activities including:
  • providing input into the development/measurements of departmental strategic goals 
  • ensure safety training, quality of work and service, production and deliver objectives in area of responsibility
  • oversee all the construction/maintenance projects
  • ensure the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently
  • attend and communicate in meetings
The Ideal Candidate
The model candidate for this position is someone who:
  • has at least 5 years experience supervising staff and/or contractors
  • has at least 5 years experience in project management
  • worked in multiple areas of construction and skilled trades
  • excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • proficient in Microsoft Office software, AutoDESK products and Smartsheets
Preference may be given to those applicants that currently work for the Utah Department of Corrections.
