Principle Duties
As the Program Specialist II you will perform a variety of duties including:
  • Coordination of Interstate Compact for adult offenders  statewide, including with AP&P Officers, Courts, law enforcement, other allied agencies, and agents in other states.
  • Develops and facilitates trainings on the Interstate Compact.
  • Participation on state and multi-state committees.
  • Reviews cases and entries, in SONAR/Offender Watch and ICOTS, for quality assurance and compliance with federal and state statutes and associated policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Reviews incoming and outgoing cases of sex offenders in order to determine whether the offender needs to be registered as a sex and kidnap offender in either the state of Utah or the destination state.
  • Researches statutes; develops and interprets policies, procedures, rules, regulations and standards in particular specialty areas; ensures compliance with law and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation as required to assure statewide program effectiveness.
  • Maintains professional and positive relationships with allied agencies, internal and external stakeholders, and the national Interstate Compact Office.
  • Interpret and analyze data in order to review program effectiveness and to provide necessary statistics as needed.
 
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:
  • Detailed orientated.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with State, local, and private agencies.
  • Has experience with the criminal justice standards and practices.
  • Prior knowledge of the criminal justice software programs.
  • Have a strong working experience in data research and analysis.

The Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate will have:
  • 2 years of experience working in a professional office environment.
  • Knowledge of Interstate Compact rules and Sex/kidnap offender registry laws.
  • Experience working in SONAR/Offender Watch.
  • Experience working for the Utah Department of Corrections.
