Job Description:

The Police Services Technician will provide a variety of law enforcement support duties involving a variety of civil and criminal issues that do not require the authority of a sworn law enforcement officer, but have a high factor of responsibility, liability, and criticality. Receives custody of non-violent arrestees from a sworn officer for transporting purposes.

Benefits:

The five step Salary Range for this position is $3,073 - $3,737 per month. Salary range placement is dependent on the candidate’s qualifications.  The City of Delano offers an excellent benefit package including:

· City pays $30/month for Bilingual Pay

· City pays $35/month for Longevity Pay after 8 continuous years of City service

Education and Experience:

Applicants must have a High School Diploma, or an equivalent certificate recognized by the State of California. Associate’s Degree or two full academic years of attendance at an accredited College or University with a major in criminology, law enforcement/administration of justice, behavioral science or related field, preferable, and may be substituted for one year of experience. One to two years of experience as a Community Services Officer, Correctional Officer, Jailer, Security Guard or Military/Reserve in a full time capacity, volunteer, or internship with a police or sheriff’s department. OR two or more years of experience working in any capacity within a law enforcement agency. Able to obtain a Certificate of Graduation from a POST Community Services Officer Course within one year of appointment. Possess and maintain current S.T.C. certified Corrections Officer CORE certification. Possess and maintain current POST Firearms Training and Powers of Arrest certification (PC 832). Possess a Title 22 First Aid/CPR Certificate or be able to obtain within one month of appointment. Certified to carry OC Spray and a Taser or be able to be certified within two months of appointment. Must be proficient in accordance with Department Standards in the handling of firearms within one month of appointment. Maintain a valid California Driver License with a driving record acceptable to the City.
