Job Description:

At present, we have a need for Shift Supervisors to work at our 24/7 facility at our Minneapolis facility consisting of adult male residents. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Shift Manager and in accordance with Federal Bureau of Prisons, Department of Corrections and Volunteers of America, MN-WI procedures.

Presently we have staff positions for On Call openings starting at $16.94 per hour.

On-Call: cover full shifts that open up to cover staff time off; and could cover prearranged days to conduct extra security measures.

Shift Schedule Times
· 1st shift schedule: 8am-4pm
. 2nd shift schedule: 4pm-12am
. 3rd shift schedule: 12am-8pm

Purpose of the Position: The Shift Staff ensures the accountability of our residents through enforcement of policy; maintains a strong relationship with Federal and State personnel in order to ensure public safety; aids offenders by networking with community resources to provide assistance in job seeking and housing; ensures offenders have access to chemical dependency treatment; acts in accordance with Federal and State law in regard to high risk offenders on supervised release.

The Shift Supervisor also coordinates the day-to-day activities of the residents by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties   include:
• Upholds agency’s Code of Conduct and Ethics
• Conducts accurate body counts 6 times per shift
• Conducts safety, building and ground rounds 5 times per shift
• Completes intake on new residents and ensures procedural requirements are met with new arrivals (forms, guidelines, room assignments and keys)
• Assists with facility cleanliness and takes action when necessary. This includes monitoring chemicals in the mop bucket on the main floor after each meal to ensure that residents are using fresh, hot and clean water when mopping the floor.
• Assists with meals; keeping pantry, refrigerator and freezer organized
• Acts to ensure the safety and security of staff, self and clients.
• Maintains awareness of potential hazards in the workplace by gaining as much
information as possible from other staff or referring agencies about particular
residents or situations that could be dangerous
• Uses knowledge of alternative systems to manage or de-escalate potentially volatile
situations and applies remedial action in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Observes resident behavior and takes appropriate action with regard to restrictions.
• Monitors and confronts residents' suspected chemical usage through use of
Breathalyzer and administering urine analyses
• Completes hourly rounds, making sure that all locked areas are secure.
• Maintains an awareness of resident movement during shift
• Monitors all visitors, visitor forms and sign-in sheets
• Dispenses and records medication

The Adult Re-Entry provides services for residents who have been convicted of felonies and are allowed to complete part of their sentences in a community-based, work-release facility.

Position Requirements-
For consideration you must have the following:
*High school diploma or general education degree (GED),
*Two to four years related experience and/or training; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Works a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings
*Motivational Interviewing
*Basic food preparation
*Crisis management
*De-escalation skills
*Conflict resolution
*Knowledge of security and emergency procedures
*Ability to lift up to 51 pounds
*Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population
*Ability to manage and coordinate individuals and group
*Ability to get along with co-workers and maintain a positive work environment
*Ability to operate and troubleshoot problems with office machines
*Basic computer and key board skills

*Experience with correctional or resistive clients
*Coursework in Criminal Justice or desire to work in this field
*Corrections or Social Services experience
