Job Description:

The Utah Department of Corrections is looking for a Licensed Clinical Therapist (LCT) to provide substance abuse treatment to incarcerated, felony Offenders who are participating in the HOPE RSAT Program, a 12-18 month residential substance abuse treatment program, located at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, UT. HOPE is a values-based, Therapeutic Community (TC) Model RSAT Program that helps inmates reduce their risk of recidivism (re-offense), by helping them to prepare themselves to live clean and sober, law-abiding lives after their prison release and return to the community. The program's TC design intentionally combines a structured environment, a positive peer culture, high behavioral standards, principles of "right living," and pro-social values, which are all reinforced through a combination of privileges and rewards, as well as therapeutic consequences.  Individual and Group Therapy provided by Licensed Clinicians add a specialized clinical treatment component, to the TC Model.

Job Description
Therapists utilize evidence-based treatment methods to reduce Offender recidivism by targeting identified criminogenic risk factors.  Therapists are primarily responsible for completing clinical assessments, treatment planning, facilitating therapy groups, conducting individual therapy sessions, participating in treatment team meetings, providing crisis intervention sessions, completing clinical documentation regarding client progress, and completing discharge summaries.  The Licensed Clinical Therapist positions are NOT public safety certified and do not require peace officer status or certification.
The Ideal Candidate will:
  • Hold a Licensure as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Mental Health Counselor
  • Speak and Write effectively
  • Have the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Work as a team
  • Experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health clients

Positions may be filled as a Caseworker III or a Social Worker upon the qualification of the applicant. The Caseworker III shall be Licensed as Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Certified Social Worker. The pay range for a Caseworker III is $22.11 - $26.02.
If the position is filled by an applicant who is licensed as Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Certified Social Worker, the applicant must obtain the full LCT licensure within 30 months of hire.
