Job Description:

The Correctional Lieutenant will plan, organize, and direct, through subordinate supervisors, the day-to-day floor operations and activities of the Modified Community Correctional Facility (MCCF). This classification is the second line supervisory position that supervises and directs the work of staff that has the responsibility for the 24-hour custody and care of inmates confined to the MCCF.  Duties are those of a watch commander and carried out through the supervision of watch sergeants who exercise line supervision over custody staff who direct the activities of inmates and of subordinate non-custody supervisors and managers.  This classification has sole cognizance for and responsibility to the Captain - Director of Security for assigned operations functions of the facility.


The five step Salary Range for this position is $29.68 - $36.09 per hour. Salary Range placement is dependent on the candidate’s qualifications.  The City of Delano offers an excellent benefit package including:

Education and Experience:

All applicants must possess a High School Diploma, or an equivalent certificate recognized by the State of California. Associate’s Degree in criminology, law enforcement/administration of justice, social science, public administration, or a closely related field preferred. Two years of supervisory experience as a sergeant at a state or federal prison, community correctional facility, privately contracted correctional facility, military prison, or United Stated armed forces. Four years of Corrections Officer experience. Maintain a Certificate of Graduation from the Standards and Training Correctional Officer’s Basic Course and Supervisor’s Basic Course (required). Posses an 832 firearms certificate and a Title 22 First Aid/CPR Certificate (required). Maintain a valid California Class C Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable with the City.
