If you like to work as a team in a busy environment then this job is for you. The Utah Department of Corrections is looking for a Warehouse Worker II.

Principle Duties
A Warehouse Worker II works in a general warehouse environment ensuring there is an adequate supply of materials available. Assisting with mailroom functions sorting or delivering mail.
  • Receive, ship, stock and maintain warehouse inventory in a State warehouse or prison facility.
  • Working in a prison facility and will frequently deal with inmate security issues.
  • Orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs.
  • Loads and unloads material, supplies, and/or equipment.

The ideal Candidate
The model candidate for this position is someone who:

  • Is able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Is comfortable working in a prison facility environment.
  • Willingness to learn warehouse procedures and techniques including sorting and stacking.
  • Has ability to work well with others. Team player.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Has great communication skills. 
  • Is reliable/dependable.
  • Has a valid Utah Drivers license.
  • Can operate, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment. (Willing to learn)
  • Can pass a criminal background check.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Conducts regular and/or spot check inventories of merchandise, supplies, or equipment.


 Typical Qualifications:
  • (includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position)
  • Must have a valid driver license to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form
  • follow written and/or oral instructions
  • correctly follow a given rule or set of rules in order to arrange things or actions in a certain order
  • maintain inventory; track receipt, sending and delivery of materials


 Supplemental Information:
  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
  • Preference may be given for work experience using a forklift and/or reach equipment.
