Job Description:

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is seeking a Food and Laundry Programs Manager to manage the food and laundry operations at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility (PSF) located in downtown Minneapolis. 

The PSF operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. PSF staff admit and process about 35,000 people a year, with over 800 pre-trial detainees in the jail at any given time.

Benefits:

Benefit-eligible employees are those employees who work full- or part-time in a regular or limited duration position and whose standard hours are at least 20 hours per week.

Some temporary positions also provide benefits, including limited duration appointments that exceed six months and have standard hours of 20 or more per week; and grant, trainee, and unclassified positions that are defined to include benefits.

Some benefits for part-time employees are pro-rated based on the number of hours worked.

Under the Affordable Care Act, health insurance is offered to limited duration appointments that are 6 months or less and have standard hours of 30 or more per week.

Other Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • Two year degree in culinary arts, food science and nutrition, restaurant management or related field, and three or more years of experience supervising or managing a high-volume food preparation operation (approximately 2,000 meals per day).
    • Five years or more of required experience.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
  • Current certification as a Minnesota Department of Health Certified Food Manager or ability to become certified within six months of hire. 
  • Knowledge of:
    • Governmental health, safety, and nutritional standards.
    • HACCP standards and requirements to include supporting documentation.
    • ACA and Minnesota DOC standards.
  • Experience:
    • Developing programs or system changes in food production and processing.
    • Selecting and managing employees.
    • Formulating and implementing operational procedures and policies.
    • Purchasing food, supplies, equipment, and service contracts.
    • Developing and managing an operating budget.
    • With food service planning in a correctional facility.
    • Using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to:
    • Work effectively with an increasingly diverse client population.
    • Maintain equipment and sanitation standards.
    • Maintain safety and security of inmates in a pre-trial detention facility with detention deputies and employees.
    • Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
    • Abide by the Sheriff's Office Personal Appearance Standards Policy.  You must read the entire policy and be able and willing to meet the requirements.
