Teacher (Academic)

Generally works in small classroom settings inside institutions, and/or instruct one-on-one working detainees and inmates to help them achieve general equivalency degrees, participate in adult basic education, special education, job readiness, life skills and other educational programs consistent with inmates’ needs. Teachers work closely with security and program staff to screen inmates for educational programs and assure that programming supports improved inmate behavior. Teachers may also work with community resources to enhance educational experiences and inmate re-integration.
