Watch Commander

Lead a shift of corrections officers in an institution, generally supervising sergeants or corporals. Watch commanders assure that detainees and inmates are supervised in a manner consistent with facility rules and regulations and that employees also follow the rules. Watch commanders work with those above them in the chain-of-command to help establish and implement the organization’s mission and vision, as well as participate in management initiatives.
